Why rest days matter as much as training days

The physiology behind adaptation — and permission to actually take the day off.

Fitness improvements don't happen during a workout — they happen during the recovery period afterward, when your body repairs and strengthens the tissue you just stressed. Skip that period consistently, and progress stalls or reverses.

A true rest day means genuinely lower activity, not a second workout in disguise. Light walking, stretching, or simply doing something restorative for your mind counts.

Building rest into your routine as a scheduled habit — rather than something you only take when forced to — tends to produce more consistent long-term results.
